Value is great - comes with rails and platinum supplies. Only 8x PCIe though (to be expected for this density). Wish I had a use case for these as compute-specific nodes. Must pass.

I think they take 10Gbe cards + 1x x8 - the rear opening looks similar to my FatTwin where the 2x 10Gbe sits.

The 6027tr-dtrf that's popular on eBay has 2 x16 slots. Select GPUs will fit inside those.

I really wish there was a way to route all of the drive bays to a single node in the SuperMicro 2/4 node chassis. That would make them considerably more useful for me.

I wouldn't buy (unless you need them) even if it seems like a great deal, these are getting dumped by lots, even in EU, but I don't think those go on eBay.

He has them on sale as single for a long time, price has gone up and down, started at 250 for the first week, for the 2 node 2 u server.. This is the model, that nobody seems to buy..as the card slot is a SM only card..not standard PCI E

1U/2node or 2U/4node is the only way to go with these. The noise, power, and flexibility you are gimping yourself if you go with anything less.

I have the 1U/2node 2011's and I LOVE them. I need the 2U/4Node and that will make a killer rig to do WTFWHOKNOWSWHYAMIBUYINGTHIS? device.
