    I didnt even need to do that. I just used a fat32 usb key. Put the contents in the root of the drive. When I booted it recognized the files, gave me some options, and away I went.

    Mini sas cables is what you need to connect the card to the backplane.

    The case comes with 4x sata to mini-sas so until you get an hba that will get you by. I just hooked that up to the mobo sata and the backplane. I ordered an intel RMS25KB080.

    Seeing as you went through it, I guess giving an answer would have been too much to ask. For those wanting to know, it seems b0 is pcie2.0 and d1 is 3.0. Both steppings can be crossflashed.
