    I am also looking to upgrade my R740 CPU with a 8124m or similar chip. Has any tried the 200w 8222CL Xeon or the 210w 8259CL in a R740? Those shouldn't have the same power consumption issue of the 8124m.

    Intel 8124m board compatibility

    Two 8124m's (SRD1Y) running great on the ASRock Rack RM237-C622LM, no bios or VRM mod. Also have a 8124m (SR37R) running smooth on EPC621D8a, no mods needed either.
