Loaded all 4 on my test EPYC server and they all seem to be brand new - 2 power on times and 0 hours. 0 Bytes written.
Trying to get Intel MAS tool working on this server just to verify if there are and firmware updates required.
This is a pretty good deal even with 50% remaining life.
1) the x357a's are slightly faster than the x356a's. These can come in both Samsung and Toshiba flavors.
2) these Toshiba drives are MLC nand as opposed to the TLC nand in the Samsung 1633's
3) NA54 is the right firmware for these from...
Honestly though, after this chia mining craze, I am very suspicious of used storage. I was not aware SMART info could be wiped or altered, so all these SSD's that are flooding the market as new/unused are just a huge red flag in general.
I don't really care if they come from china or usa...
too bad they dont ship to the US. 3 of these would completely replace my Freenas box.
They probably need to be formatted from 520b to 512b, but i'm not sure if that is the case with nvme drives. I know sas drives needed to be reformatted.
Thanks for the heads up. I bought it and they shipped it out the same day. Got it today and it was slightly better packaging. They added heavy paper to pad the sides.
Looks good - I haven't had a chance to fire it up as yet but it does look like I also got a ram upgrade, 64gb instead of 32gb...
