I find 16GB modules are still quite expensive especially when compared to 8GB modules. If they were like $40 or below, I would think the price is pretty good.
Actually, you are right. The X8 motherboard officially supports only up to DDR3-1333. Supermicro has the DDR3-1600 memory on their tested memory list though. And again you are right! The DDR3-1600 memory is compatible with some X9 motherboards. Thank you very much for your advice!

I am looking for 6 to 16 sticks of Samsung PC3-12800 M393B2G70QH0-YK0 (DDR3 16GB ECC/REG) memory. They should have the same manufacture dates. I am still looking for 2 of X5690 processors, too.
