I understand the confusion as with AI, everything seems to be "super" :) These are the next gen of connectx-7, not the Bluefield series of DPUs.
These nics are referred to as the 8180 vs the 8240 version. The exact part # is shown in the last picture of the ebay seller that was selling the...
I have 2 brand new in box. These are the new 800G single port nics. They can be 800G for IB or 2 x 400GE for Ethernet. I attached pictures of my cx8 nics (with the 3 cx8 nics) and another seller that had the same nics but sold them in the last photo. They can also be configured to be 8 x...
I was updating one of my cx7 nics from psid 856 to psid 1244 today and noticed something important.
I needed to jump the FNP pins to put into flash recovery mode. I was then able to cross-flash and upgrade to the latest version of fw. After the flashing was finished, I shut the server down and...
you can see my other post in the networking thread for the real answer. It is for a traffic generator application. Trying to optimize a hw config for generating the most amount of traffic including tls type traffic.

there is another thread that I gave some detail on how to use the mtusb-1:

yes, EDAT means vpi and pci 4.0 but that is for mellanox fw. We need the hpe fw and I could only find the following:
Firmware for HPE InfiniBand EDR/Ethernet 100Gb 2-port 841QSFP28 Adapter : HPE part number 872726-B21
That nic is pci gen 3:
LnkCap: Port #0, Speed 8GT/s, Width x16, ASPM not...
do you know which hpe cx5 signed fw supports pci gen4?
I agree that you can probably cross flash signed fw with signed fw but I couldn't find any hpe cx5 signed fw that would support pci gen4.
I think the went to the cx6 nics for pci gen4 support. that fw might be 32K and might not work with...
