    I just checked and those dual Xeon D boards have two of the same Inphi chips near the SFP+ as well. I suspect they're handling the 10G networking.

    I haven't got the board online. I'm still waiting for the memory to arrive and on top of that the seller I ordered the CPU from last week decided to cancel it yesterday, though if @erunno is correct about the Xeon Phi support then I might've dodged a bullet. Unsure how to proceed now but those...

    I don't suppose the E3-1220V5 would have any kind of killer perk (power usage, drastic performance increase, lower price) over an E3-1220V3? Say if I'm looking for a CPU, mobo and RAM for roughly $1000 CAD all in - that is equivalent to this: CPU - Intel Xeon E3-1220V3 Haswell 3.1GHz 8MB L3...
