    Supermicro 6028U-TRTP X10DRU-i Barebone $349

also FWIW theserverstore is excellent with shipping, the custom foam fill/pack thing is hard to beat. From other posts ESISO can be hit or mess with including everything in the descriptions, but considering the price difference now, they seem hard to beat.

FYI have you seen the price drop from ESISO? their barebones is down to $240 now, that may change your math a bit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPERMICRO-CSE-829U-X10DRU-I-BAREBONE-CHASSIS-12LFF-2x-HS-2x-PSU-RAIL/133480869756

I bought the AOC-S3008L-L8E and its working great with unraid. I did update the firmware, but it was obviously already HBA since that model is hba only.

I mean it has the power connectors for it, so they expected folks to throw GPU's in there. Id venture to say you would have to keep the fan speed pretty high to get enough airflow out the back to keep them cool, so i would not want the thing in my living room!

    Supermicro 6028U-TRTP X10DRU-i Barebone $349

I would check this thread, it has some good suggestions such as cleaning the CPU's. My 2680v4 is running fine at 2400mhz on latest bios, FWIW. https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/x10srl-f-bad-ram-slot-or-defective-cpu.13944/

    Supermicro 6028U-TRTP X10DRU-i Barebone $349

I can get some pictures tomorrow. I dont know SM rails, but i can see these generic ones seem super basic. Im used to dell rails at work, and they are always great, ball bearing/etc. These generic are slide, metal on metal. Now i mean for me, once i get my rack up, i dont see myself pulling...

Also with regards to noise, if you look at this thread, https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/supermicro-x9-x10-x11-fan-speed-control.10059/ , you can just use that tool to turn the fans down. Just keep in mind if you go too low, pack it full of hdds, you could have temp issues for...

    Supermicro 6028U-TRTP X10DRU-i Barebone $349

Do you just plan to do truenas and no vm's, dockers, or anything else? If so i would think that would be fine. FWIW i had virtualized under vmware freenas/trunas on my previous natex dual e5-2670 build. The limited growth options pushed me towards unraid this time, i plan to buy the license...

    Supermicro 6028U-TRTP X10DRU-i Barebone $349

I have 2x32gb sticks of M393A4K40BB1 and i havent had any issues, given its 2400for the fastest supported mem speed with my 2680v4's. Did you load them in the right slots based on your stick count? Did you try with less sticks? Memtest OK? What exactly is the error?

    Supermicro 6028U-TRTP X10DRU-i Barebone $349

I mean it really is pretty solid. As you mention these cases/mobo are built for GPU's if you want. Load them up with two of the 2680 v4's, and its really solid bang for the back. Im going unraid on mine, should end up with around ~67tb with a mix of 10tb, 8tb, and older 3tb drives, and 2 10tb...

    Supermicro 6028U-TRTP X10DRU-i Barebone $349

For what its worth, the link to the ESISO listing for this has been reduced by a good chunk, they are now only asking $312, whereas it was $432. $312 is less than the server store listing at $349. However if the ESISO link does in fact NOT come with drive bays, even though the picture says it...

    eBay - Intel Xeon E5-2680V4 - $168

I found it https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-XEON-CPU-E5-2680RV4-SR3AH-2-4G-14Cores-FCLGA2011-E5-2680V4-upgrade-version/203110299603 They also have a listing on alibaba. I cant find anything else with a quick google search, and the ink/labels on the top look a little beat up when you compare it...
