I think a 6162 should work in that board. 6162 vs 6152 is pretty close. One has 2 more cores, one has a tad higher clock speed. I'd buy whatever is cheaper of the 2.

The 6162 has 10W more of TDP . but 2.5*24 is less than 2.8*22 .... I am thinking 6152 would probably be a bit better with better compatibility? Less cores with faster total speed seems to be better most of the time, esp given that 2.5*24 is less than 2.8*22 ?

So hard to decide.

will the xeon platinum 6162 work with supermicro X11 MB? would they be significantly faster than 6140?


This video shows only 42,000 cpu passmark score . I get 46,000 with dual 6140 . Is this 6162 really that slow? ;(
The clock is very low, as mentioned earlier this was developed for OEMs. Most likely for large number of cores and being able to setup and share between multiple VMs and customers. Personally for home lab, I like Gold 6148 and Gold 6154 both are faster and much easier to find.
