The kit is available on ebay - Cisco C240 M5 2x 2.5" SFF Rear Bay Kit incl. Cable 2x SAS SFF-8611
Maybe ask seller if they got a unit that did not test okay they could take it from?
Usualy when selling a stack of units you end up with some that have cosmetic issues or have minor issues.

And i put a 99£ starting bid on a lot of 20 Gigabyte TO22-C21 OCP nodes that i won.
That has the 4x U.2 addon board in them, so i might be replacing the cisco boxes before they even get put into use.
I dont suppose you have a lead on where to get a spare OCP rack @ano ?

I have a lot of gen3 and gen4 pcie nvme cards I'd like to plugin, ghetto plugigng in the rear slots is easy though!

Yes, and I did not figure out if bifurcation is possible. Hoped it would be kind of automatic (as some Dells like T7820/T7920 do) but no success.
No option in Bios.
Same for the VROC. Put in two P3600 and activated VMD but no success. Manual states „Intel VROC Key (Intel SSDs only) included in BIOs, no activation key needed“ but can’t get it working.

It's missing the rear NVME 2x rear bay connectors (I think 74-114791-02 ?)
Also just has a bunch of cables coming from the front drive bays that aren't connected to anything. They are so short I assume they can only be connected to a card in the slot marked "MRAID" ?
I want to use it for TrueNAS and ZFS, so I'd prefer a regular HBA to any hardware RAID. I think I'm looking for a card like this UCSC-SAS-M5 ? But this says it only handles 16-drives, anybody know what you're supposed to do for the rest? :-D
There is a power cord hanging off the PCI riser that looks like it should be connected somewhere but I don't see a matching connector on the MB.

normally the rear 2 bays are connected to the SAS, but you can connect it to nvme in rear with 2 cpus it seems, or correct riser 1 maybe (not sure yet)
you can toggle JBOD mode on the drive/controller, it seems to be working decent with ZFS from the labbing today
you can connect the cables to normal HBA, (front is non expander) but there is i2c magic happening

If you want to connect first two front bays and/or two rear bays for NVME :
You need two CPUs as you need Riser2B or Riser 2C. Those risers come with one (2B) Oculink x8 or two Oculink x8 (2C) Ports. You need a Oculink x8 to 2 Oculink x4 Y-cable and an NVME backplane for the rear ports.
Tried to source one of those risers, first shot was a miss, seller had written 2C in description but sent riser 1B. Got refund but still no riser.
