7.68TB SATA drives are available, just about 30% more expensive per TB, and you can always run them on a SAS expander. Sure the SAS components use a bit more power, but less than a handful of NVMe drives, plus you don't need a bunch of PCIe lanes to push you into a more power-hungry CPU.Only issue I see with SATA is that they're a bit legacy and I suspect high capacity storage might not become available on this interface. Needing a SATA port per 2TB of storage isn't ideal.
