Since we are on the subject of Intel S3700 100g SSD.

Yesterday, I received a Intel S3700 100gb BIN for $38 from last week.
It has 5 hours power on time, 32gb host write. Already wrote 400gb in 8 hours.
DAMMIT, missed that one too, glad someone here go it...was stalking that one as well. DAMN my busy life and tendancy of letting my cell run on E.

Well I see all 23 of the avail STEC MACH8's are gone so either a LOT taking a risk or maybe they are decent for the right target workload.

I'm w/ you T_Minus 5000 read 100 write (OUCH) iops is certainly nothing to brag abt. Especially when you look at a s3500 80gb going for $40 and delivering these iops specs:

Random 4KB3 Reads: Up to 75,000 IOPS − Random 4KB Writes: Up to 11,500 IOPS − Random 8KB3 Reads: Up to 47,500 IOPS − Random 8KB Writes: Up to 5,500 IOPS

Not quite sure what to think abt that just yet other than STEC SLC v.s Intel MLC and ctrls of course.

I wonder if these are an OEM replacement for something ?? normal users wouldn't be buying these up, and even OEM replacement there HAS to be better 'approved vendor' items to swap in I'd iamgine./.

Good thought...maybe some sort of SUN/Oracle array but they would have to be ancient :-D What was the first one from them called...oh yeah that's right THUMPER! Dell/Equalogic had a code name for one of their iSCSI arrays called SUMO...gotta love the names!

Thumper was circa 2006 and I do not think had these drives in the original Sun Fire X4500 (I could be wrong though)
