Was pulled into an online conference where a bunch of us old farts were discussing ideas... at some point we moved onto the reminiscience rollercoaster...

Thought it would be good banter for members here...

Well, my first paid 'tech' job was VHS porno duplication at a rather seedy backalley joint in the 80s. The boss was a gold-medallion (yes really) cigar+brandy-aficianado who drove around in a then-classic british Jag (pre Ford era) and walked with a very-real old-skool limp.

Many great mammories from there, but it was at that place that I realised I had a 'nack' for optimisation, reducing running costs/man-effort, and a great love for the feminine form (lol).... (also got introduced to genlocking, that was actually my first intro into the world of CG in the real world outside of an old BBC micro and Z80) the rest as they say, history. Just picture 40 rows about 30 yards long with 8 shelves worth of VCRs with 8-10 guys running up and down with trollys and a remote (not so indifferent to a busy datacentre lol)... the ladies had their own room where all the tapes got stickered and put into their sleeves before being shrink-wrapped and slotted into a large brown box. This was wayyy before the internet, indeed a rather important public service :D I'd say tens of thousands of tapes went through my hands, disturbing right?! LMAO....
