However since I began this thread I've been informed by numerous individuals that these small companies simply rebrand hardware, the web-ui appearance etc, and have absolutely no ability to modify the base code, that is something they have to pay the manufacturer of the switches to do and that cost is simply not something they are generally willing to partake in unless the manufacturer can be convinced they have made a grave error in some way.

[...]

I think it is a little unfair to refer to them in a derogatory manner. The couple of occasions I spoke to them personally they were very helpful and positively caring although they were very limited in what they could do and kept refering to the fact that they have different switches for different budgets, which is a classic escape.

However yes they do need to invest in ongoing firmware support, the hardware is indeed capable, the software is often the root cause of annoying issues.
Yes, there are a lot of them that simply rebrand switches from OEMs. Hongrui make many of them, and Hasivo also seem to have their own designs from what I can tell (I've at least gotten them to make firmware updates for me and have seen their switches rebranded by others). I thought Xikestor/Seeker might've made their own switches too, but I'm not sure.

Yes, I also think that was a bit unfair. I imagine that they have pretty thin margins so either having their own firnware developers or paying the OEM for that service might simply not be feasible.

Definitely known to rebrand other switches:

Horaco, POEPLUS, Mokerlink, Omay, ONTi, Hicomdata, OPTFOCUS, YuanLey, Davuaz

Presumably also rebranding operations:

keepLink, GoodTop

Another quick FYI post - There is a new firmware for this switch available English support site. - SKS3200-8E2X-20250324.bin The website is calling this V2 however the firmware reports 1.0.0.5 when installed.

I'm going to test it out over the next few days and see if it's any more usable than the pervious version.

Funny it is not listed on China site. Description "Optimize UI interface and some display errors" so I'm not optimistic.

SFP+ DAC not recognized by unmanaged switch
Davuaz unmanaged switch (model number Da-K10802WS) based on the MxL86282 controller (8x2.5GbE + 2x10G SFP+) is buggy... the SFP+ ports on it do not recognize my QSFP+ to quad SFP+ DAC splitter cable... the same cable works well with the Realtek controller based unmanaged switch (4x2.5GbE + 2x10G SFP+). Debian Linux connecting to the Davuaz reports NO-CARRIER
The 2.5GbE ports work but unfortunately the 10G SFP+ are a no go
The hardware seems to be well built but maybe the firmware is buggy even non-functional... The user manual supplied with the product or even online does not pertain to this model.

What is on the QSFP+ end?

What is on the QSFP+ end?
ConnectX-3 that has been stable and working for years !
Please let me know if you / anyone has any advice...
I have tried ifup / ifdown and ethtool speed commands, nothing worked but willing to give any other suggestions a shot.
As soon as I connect the SFP+ to my smaller switch it just works but this MxL based switch does not

I have a CX3P connected to a Xikestor

Mxl86262 as well.
Thanks for the help and suggestions !
I will return the Davuaz one and try the Xikestor one.. Interestingly, instead of full refund, I am being offered a partial refund to keep the faulty one for $29 full price was $37... not sure if it is worth keeping it as a 8 port 2.5G switch

I don't think you're going to see much difference between the two, really

Right after receiving, i've upgraded firmware to 1.0.0.5 and about 4 days i thought - what a piece of shit that switch. It's freezing, interface was slow, vlan settings not applied after restart. But today i've flashed 1.0.0.4 again and now switch working perfectly, having more setting and just rock solid )

IMHO you should just get a Switch that is compatible with OpenWRT. Xikestor and ONTI have some. NOT sure if there are ones with 10gbase-t though, I have the ONTI ONT-S508CL-8S which is 8xSFP+. You might need to navigate this Thread if you want to find out more: Support for RTL838x based managed switches

AND get a proper Power Supply, the one delivered with the Xikestor and/or ONTI is a safety Nightmare !

You know you need first to apply, and then to save? Saving saves "running config", not what you see in the interface.

Yes, i know. Saving rewrites startup config. The problem was that after restart the settings looked saved, but they didn't work and you had to Apply them again

There new firmware on Xikestor site. NTP and energy saving has gone (same as in "V2.0" or 1.0.0.5)
Fixed link aggregation and vlan segmentation bugsV1.0.0.6

Still my issue with vlans exists...
And I think I found the problem. They do POST to tag_vlan_cfg.json. If the body (content length) is above 2686 bytes it fails. 2687 already gives error 400. I tested that by manipulating vlan and port numbers - it was easy enough to debug since it is plaintext json - each extra char takes extra byte.

Ofc no idea how to work around this.
Headers suggest it accepts gzip/deflate encoding but request may note be compressed. I need to experiment a bit with sending POST requests to that endpoint from developer console.
