@RedX1 I also picked up 2 8259CLs from him on ebay, and also using MD71-HB0, but I'm having some issues -- see post: https://forums.servethehome.com/ind...md71-hb0-datto-siris-4-bios.43158/post-427234 -- do you mind sharing versions / files of BIOS/BMC of your working setup?
Hello

Just like you, I found my motherboard arrived with zeros for nic ip addresses, I too used the same method to restore them.

I updated the BMC to the latest Gigabyte firmware, not the old Vertiv 1.98. by USB. I then update the Bios to R20 using the BMC.

This caused the MB to again wipe the IP addresses of the nics.

I have not updated it since.

I am using Windows 11 with no problems.

I hope this helps.

Good luck.

Thanks so much! Was quite concerned there would be microcode or other issues with newest BMC/BIOS, but seems it's not the case. Will try the latest.

Do you think this also applies to the MD71-HB1? It's CPU QVL looks VERY different than the MD71-HB0 on Gigabyte's website.
you don't want to run P-8124 today. other suported CPU are cheap. many issue with B1 stepping if not dried out TIM.

Motherboard has been picked up, and CPUs on the way, so I will know soon.

Now I have to figure out memory. You've mentioned in the past that the 8259CL maxes out at DDR4-2666, but this post of an Amazon instance suggests that it was running at DDR4-2933. I would love to get that additional bandwidth, so I guess I will just have to buy one 2933 DIMM and test it.

By the way, apparently there is a way to modify the MD71 BIOS to unlock additional options? I would love to be able to adjust package power down a bit.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge :)

all tools report max. 2666. i guess the report writes the RAM specs not the current speed, or the 8259CL RAM can be overclocked.
you will see.

RAPL config should be supported by gigabyte.
hidden (but supported) options can be shows by (R.shift&R.ctrl)+F2
