sorry i actually purchased a Asrock board drom ebay for testing the xeons befofe sellingAnyone can suggest a motherboard compatible with those 8259CL Xeons? The TDP might be a problem, as it is reported as 210 W (here, here, and discussion here). I looked for Supermicro, but can't seem to find one with 210 W TDP support. All end on 205 W. I intend to build a 4-node cluster, so these CPUs could come in handy, but the question is the right hardware combination. @Irishdave maybe you have compatible boxes or motherboards, too?
TDP is not the problem except motherboards with up to 165W support like X11SPL,X11SPM.

You are running 125W with two idle Xeon's, likely dual HBAs for the 847, and dual power supplies? That is pretty impressive.Hello
Just a positive shout-out for Irishdave.
I ordered 2 8259CL CPU's from him on eBay just before the christmas holiday. They we shipped next day and were delivered in the UK the first post after the holiday.
They arrived well packaged and I installed them in a Gigabyte MD71-HB0 motherboard, the system booted first time.
I now have 48 cores running at around 125W in a CSE 847 with a minimal windows installation.
I am happy with the really good service and will be back for some more CPU's soon.
Just a happy customer.

Without having to go through all 11 pages of the thread, how much of a PITA is it to update the VRMs on a X11-DPG-QT board? How much are you wanting for a pair of the 8259CL CPUs?EPC621D8A, WC621D8A work without VRM mod
Many other boards work with VRM mod (aka modify VRM settings):
Supermicro X11DPG-QT
