If you want more oomph than Xeon D, there's some Xeon Silver used on ebay

Silver 4110 for $400 each obo Intel Xeon Silver 4114 Ten-Core Skylake Processor 2.2GHz 13.75MB LGA 3647 CPU | eBay they're about $500 new so maybe you can go under $400 by some amount

Here's the Silver 4114 for $660 each obo Intel Xeon Silver 4114 Ten-Core Skylake Processor 2.2GHz 13.75MB LGA 3647 CPU | eBay they're about $730 new so again, use the BO.

There's even a crazy mobo on ebay Supermicro X11DPL-I Server Motherboard Intel Chipset Dual LGA-3647 w/ I/O Shield | eBay only 4 dimms per cpu and the sockets look funny but $199 for 2s board.

Here's a better board for one of the silvers Supermicro Motherboard MBD-X11SPI-TF-O (X11SPi-TF) ATX LGA 3647 | eBay $425

If you can get a good BO on the chips that's $800-100 for a setup.

$225 for a 2P board is very cheap . Would ve bought one myself too..

Only problem is the cpu is so expensive. 4114 cost $400 and look about the same performance a 2680 v2 or 2670v2 which you can get nowaday for $130-180....

add on top of that ddr3 vs ddr4..... the argument of much lower wattage probably won't ever save you enough money for any effective lifespan...lol..

On the other hand you can find board for newer platform with lots of integrated stuff: 2xM2, 3xSAS HD, and 10Gb NIC - makes a perfect board for workstation (No add-in cards, except videocards).

Do we know what motherboards work with the ES batches of 4114?
Hi,
generally speaking when I was doing research about this problem intel motherboard should avoid for ES/QS cpu, others like asus, SuperMicro and etc. work more or less depend on BIOS version so YMMV.
I still not own ES/QS cpu, but may reconsider for LGA3647, I would buy EPYC ES/QS but no one offer.

i have asus z10ped16 ws and that works fine with QS and ES cpu. Also have an asrock x99 taichi which works fine with ES//QS cpu. i am getting a supermicro x10sra so will test that out but i think it does also work with es/qs cpu.... def avoid intel MB.....These are of course all 2011 v3/v4.....
