E5-2686 v3 QG7V QS/ES

I am getting some crappy real world turbo , much different from what is posted here in Wikipedia and on the cpuid:

List of Intel Xeon microprocessors - Wikipedia

I have not see 3.5ghz at all on all my bench. somehow all the apps are maybe triggering more than 2 cores?

well at least I seems to be getting the correct 2.28ghz for using all 18 cores but the low thread core usage turbo bins are crap so far ':(

Both are QG7V. One is remarked as SR1XD

E5-2686 v3 QGN8 QS/ES

Intel Xeon E5-2686 v3 QS QGN8 LGA2011-3 18C Compatible with X99 i7-6850K 6950X | eBay

I am thinking it's my particular ver of cpu. There's another 2686 v3 QS/ES, QG7V SR1XD that might do better? if anyone else has this, please post number. thanks.

P.S. The only reason I got this particular one was b/c it went for cheap on ebay bid for only $450 compared to the usual asking price for this cpu currently around 600. but now I guess I am stucked with this same cpu step for the 2nd socket also ;(. well at least I seems to be getting the correct 2.28ghz for using all 18 cores but the low thread core usage turbo bins are crap so far ':(

Have you enabled C-States? Your CPU can not go into full turbo if it can't save power on the other cores.

Intel Confidential QHUZ ?E5-2698 V4?

Have no idea what ES is this. It's advertised on ebay as E5-2698 v4 but the one I got only have 2 turbo speed: 23x and 25x with base clock of 2.0ghz. 20 cores 40 threads, so similar in core count to an actual 2698 v4 but the clock speed is not exactly similar. ?very early stepping ES?

Yes but it says SR1XD on IHS , SR1XD corresponds to 2699v3 and i guess its been rewritten because es/qs cpus comes with Intel Confidential text written on them.
can you add the picture of the cpu if possible? also plz post a screen cap of the hwinfo. thanks.

Intel Confidential QGN7 e5-2696 v3

hwinfo shows SR1XK so i guess the mark on the cpu is deceiving?

Xeon E5-2675v3 - ES, 1.8GHz 16-core, but runs at 1.4-1.5GHz most of the time. Need to check C-states.
Used to have a 2667v3 and swapped to this thinking it'd be better for many more low-priority VM's, and now am looking for replacements with higher (actual) clocks. This thread is great!

I have this one. It as mid level stepping, one stepping before release. Has worked reliably for years and is a good chip but VT-C is unstable. Other oddity is I see 2.5Ghz turbo with 2 dimms but only 2.3Ghz with 4 in my ASRock X99, do you see the same behaviour?

hmm, i have to go back and check again. it's interesting to note that when running cinebench multicore it actually show only like 1.8 or 1.9ghz. and also i think even when runinig cinebench single core, the speed didn't go to 2.3 or 2.5. i only see the 2.3 or 2.5 when it's just sorta of being on light desktop usage or idleing.... it's almost like they deliberately cripple the speed when it needs to be running fast.....

having say that, the multicore speed is still very fast. the only other cpu i have that's faster at multicore is 2696 v3 QS..... The single core speed of the qhuz is fairly terrible though...

Here is my QHUZ. Running at 103Bclk it sits at 23 multiplier (2428cb) all day in multicore Cinebench but only manages 24.5 ish multiplier on single core. A -.0.05v voltage offset helps performance slightly.

Yeah, this cpu is definitely handicapped....i think it's a little handicapped in multicore but even more so in single core.... cool to see the 20 core and 40 threads all at once for just a single cpu though...lol.. but it's definitely no comparison to the 2696 v3 QS 18 cores i have.

Hello,

I got a Xeon 1650v3 QEZ0 engineering sample. QDF is QEZ0 (ES2), Stepping is L0.

It says:
1c: 36x, 2c: 35x, 3c: 35x, 4c: 35x, 5c: 35x, 6c: 35x
