Hi guys, i'm finishing (i hope) a 4 GPUs workstation build for animation/render (cuda cores based) and want to buy two of those USED micros, or other good ones for this price ( around 500$ each) can you help me to pick the best? Need more speed than number of cores (with more than 6 it's fine), found poor e5-2678v3 information, but here it is:PassMark - Intel Xeon E5-2678 v3 @ 2.50GHz - Price performance comparison

Also put my actual provisional configuration if it helps: (feel free to do any advice, ty)

1/ MOBO: Asus Z10PE D8 WS Socket 2011v3

2/ MEMORY: Kingston ValueRAM 2133MHz PC4-17000 8GB CL15 ECC, 8x8GB.

3/ STORAGE: Samsung 850 Pro Series 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive.
STORAGE 2: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive.

4/ VIDEO CARD: GTX Titan X 12GB Maxwell, GTX 1080 and two GTX 1070.

5/ POWER SUPPLY: Super Flower Leadex 80+ Titanium 1600W

6/ OPTICAL DRIVE: Asus DRW-24F1MT DVD 24X M-DISC

7/ CASE: Thermaltake Core X5 Cube Black.

8/ OPERATING SYSTEM: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit.

Did you buy everything yet? The ASUS WS boards have been seeing issues, even one reported on sth today Help with an Asus Z10PE D16 WS and Asus support

Shameless plug for the admin but did you see @Patrick's system buried in his FS post? Las Vegas Colo Decommission Thread - Much FS

It has better chips than you're looking at, 2x the RAM and not Kingston, 10 gigabit Ethernet, 2kW titanium redundant PSUs, hot swap hard drive bays, IPMI and you can convert it to a rack mount later since 4 GPUs will be beastly loud running at full speed and expensive to run on residential or retail power.

Breaking down your build you have a $530 mobo, 2x $500 CPUs, a $330 PSU, $400 for 64GB RAM, $175 case, $100 for coolers. The difference is like the cost of going from 64GB to 128GB RAM which you'll end up doing anyway in that system if you're doing rendering. I've been oooogling that system every day but I'd rather see it go to someone on STH since it is so hot.

Is that the dreaded ST3000DM001 which BackBlaze failure rates made famous?

I posted in the other thread... I have been using the Z10PE D16 WS board for sometime now and not having any issues <knock on wood>. I even updated the BIOS to the latest.

I suspect he just has a bad board or a messed up flash. The problem with his is the TS700-E8-RS8 workstation and RMAing it. Its a huge pain to remove the MB out of that case so they want the whole thing which they are out of stock of.

Mine is well over a year old and still running strong.

Hi and ty OBasel, no i didn't buy anything, about the Asus mobo, have another build with a Supermicro X10DRG-Q (i prefer this) but when i contact with any Supermicro reseller near my city they add the 2.500$ 7048GR-TR superworkstation to my build and my budget blow up, i never built a complete PC before, changed micros and other parts and i'm scared to buy all the parts and mount a workstation by myself... what do i do guys?
