Hi,
So I have this supermicro X9DRH-iF board, with a xeon 2640v2 in CPU 1.
Hooked up to a Corsair AX860 PSU.
I have heartbeat LED which I think is for IPMI but I have no idea how to access it.
Fans spinning but no VGA output.
Anyone have any ideas?
Probably doesn't have a v2 capable bios...which kinda needs a v1 chip to flash. If you don't have a spare one in another system I am sure one of us can find one for you to borrow.
Well I can't update IPMI unless I have IPMI access with IPMIView AFAIK. Anyway I'll ask a few of my friends if they have a Sandy-E xeon, if not I'll likely buy a really low end one from ebay.
I got one of these off eBay a month ago and got your same symptoms when I tried to boot with my 2620v2. IPMI wouldn't even work till I had a V1 CPU in it. Thanks to a loaner from T_Minus I didn't have to buy a $180+ cpu for which I had no use...
Just to clear up and for anyone reading this in the future, my suspicions were right. coolrunnings82 was absolutley right and @legopc 2609 worked, I used it to update my BIOS and now I have 1 of the 2 2640v2s installed (waiting on another cooler). Thanks everyone.
