Unless I am missing it, I can't find anything on aliexpress for close to the same price. Ebay has those Ciscos for as low as $140. I need at least 24x 1G/10G ports. Suggestions?

PoE would be a bonus but not a necessity.

ps. I would prefer to not order from Aliexpress.

I think a good choice for a good homelab switch could be a Ruckus ICX7250-24p. It's a 24p switch, PoE on all ports, with 8 sfp+ cages running at 10G speeds. Idle power is not insane (50W) and once it's booted up the fans are audible but not too bad. You should find those on ebay quite easily.

Just attach it to the machines you keep in the rack with DAC cables, and use one or two 10gbase-t modules for the PCs you need to actually cover.

Here on STH there's a whole thread about these Ruckus switches, and also some other models:

I don't think you can find any 10gbase-t (rj45) switches with many port at reasonable prices. QNAP does have an 8+8 RJ/SFP+ 10G switch available, but you're well into the 600$+ range.

But aren't the RJ45 ports on that 1Gb only? This is for a home network...not a home lab. All of my wiring is already behindthe walls so I don't have the option of running cables for SFP.

How many 10gb links do you actually need?

10gbase-t is not cheap, even in the used market. you might find some 12 port switches for $500 or above. Look for example at the Cisco SX350X-12. 8port ones are way cheaper, but still in the 200-250$ range. The cisco I mentioned is a 12 port rj45. Power is about 5W per port, so expect at least 60-ish W for a 12 port or 120W for a 24p. This means a 24P 1U unit will be LOUD.

It might be cheaper to buy a multi-port sfp+ switch and add 10gbase-t modules when you need to add devices. That's the route I choose with the ICX.
It does have 24 1G normal ports (with PoE), plus 8 SFP+ cages that can host S+/RJ45 transceivers. I do have two computers in my home with 10G ethernet, and both end in 10G modules in my switch. The other alternative is to add a 2.5G switch as a downlink, connect it with a dac cable to the main switch, and have a few faster ports for which you might easily already have integrated at least in modern desktops.

10G over RJ45 is not that readily available in the consumer market, and the enterprise one has started moving away from that speed almost a decade ago.

If a couple ports is okay, there are a handful of 10GBaseT switches available on Amazon in the vicinity of $230. There's a TrendNET 5 port, if you want something name brand ish. There are also YuanLey 5 port and 8 port options, if you're not bothered by China brand stuff. There's a slightly different MokerLink/Binardat 8 port as well.
