Hi!

After upgrading to a 5.11 kernel from Ubuntu 20.04, I get these messages during bootup:

iKVM_capture (5).jpg
iKVM_capture (4).jpg

They also appeared sometime into 5.x (I tried down to 5.4).

The mpt2sas is getting time outs for some commands (I have not verified which, yet). This kills drive initialization and the boot process just hangs.

Anyone has any advice or has seen this out there? The HBA is the built-in SAS2 controller in the X10SDV M/Bs (LSI 2116 I believe).

Have you tried updating the firmware of the SAS controller?

It was running 20, I reflashed 19 from Supermicro (IT) just in case something was off. NO effect. Configured to EFI boot rom too.

I don't really have that many good ideas, here are a few that may be a little far fetched:
  • Perhaps it is bad cabling, make sure all cables are connected properly by reseating connectors
    • Perhaps consider trying other cables.
  • It could be heat, maybe a bit of airflow over the heatsink could help?
You may also want to give some more information about how your drives are connected.
