It’s hard to find a chassis for these, but does anyone have one, or can tell by looking at eBay listings?

I have a X9 motherboard in the WIO form factor that is EE-ATX just laying around and need a solid chassis for it. I was thinking a 2U, but would rather get the 847 (4U) because it’s the best of both worlds, WIO support but has 36 bays.

That's not WIO and is one of the older UIO models. Easiest way to tell the difference is the rear-IO layout. UIO is going to have the older layout found on most boards up to the X8/X9 generation with PS/2 ports. WIO will be X9/X10/X11 style with a D-sub port closest to the PSUs.

The rear windows (LP / UIO / WIO) are interchangeable. 21x / 82x WIO window should work. Couple of years ago I posted the Part#s in the guides / resources here on the forums. I think below is the one you are after. You can contact SM tech support to confirm and then contact their RMA to place the order. Usually < $20 + shipping. You may want to order other spare parts to optimize shipping. Some of these parts are cheaper at eStore or RMA than buying from eBay. Provantage or other distributors also may have them.

Rear Windows:
MCP-240-00102-0N
2U WIO rear window for SC825, SC826, SC213, SC216

MCP-240-82608-0N
216B/826B LP rear window,RoHS/REACH,PBF

MCP-240-82503-0N
UIO Rear Window for SC825,825M,826,213,216

MCP-240-82609-0N
SC826B, 216B WIO rear window

I’m more worried about the EE-ATX part of the equation. I actually have a spare WIO rear window. It’s the combination of EE-ATX + WIO that has me stumped.

You can look-up the specs for your mobo on SM site for compatible chassis and go from there.
There is a 2nd row of fans in 847 which will limit the board size.

See that grated space between the PSUs and the PS/2 ports on the motherboard? That means it'll handle EE-ATX. For that matter, I don't think there are ANY SC847s that can't handle EE-ATX, so if you've got the rear window, fire away.

Only time you lose it is if you have the rear 2.5" hot-swap bays.

I used to have a X10DRI-T4+ in a216 chassis without 2.5. It was a snug fit.
My concern with 847 is that it has 2nd row of fans which 21x / 82x chassis do not have.

The 847 is longer than the 846 because of the extra fans. They can both accommodate the same size boards. It's tight with an EEATX or EATX board, but it fits.

This is VERY helpful, one last question/concern: That takes care of the width part of the EE-ATX, but the concern I have is in the length. When I tried to install the motherboard (X9DRW-7TPF+) into a 826 I had laying around, the width was fine (Because of the grated empty section), but I could not get the length to fit in no matter what I did. Because it’s WIO, it has a longer than usual length (16.5”) I even removed the single fan wall and I still couldn’t fit it.

I know I’m asking a lot, thank you for all your help thus far!
