I'm not sure supermicro are shipping the chassis either at the moment and are only shipping full system builds. That is what I've heard anyway.

Plus the chassis is about $1200 alone which I'd rather not spend if I can avoid it. Backplane is only $400.

In the past I bought Supermicro backpanes from servercase.co.uk Contact Server Case UK | Online Retailer of Industrial and High Performance Servers - even one that Supermicro did not sell individuall - so it might be worth a try with them.
