I recently picked up a Lenovo TD230 which has a dual 1366 socket Intel server board S5500BC with 1 E5607 installed. I already ordered an L5630 to replace the CPU, but I need to find some RAM to replace the single 4GB stick the system came with. This machine is going to be a Hyper-V host for development/testing/learning.
Each CPU socket has 4 RAM slots, and I believe I need dual-rank modules to put 4GB sticks in all slots (I could be wrong and single rank would work, but I'm not sure).
I'd prefer to buy (8) 4GB modules so I can fully populate the board when I get a second CPU, but if anyone has any good deals on 4 or 6 module sets I may be interested. Looking for either PC3-8500R or PC3-10600R.
I also might be interested in a few SAS drives, preferably smaller capacity (73,146) SFF if anyone has some lying around for cheap - these would just be for the host OS so I'd probably be better off using a bargain SSD, but let me know if anyone has spare or leftover SAS drives and I'll think about it.
