Black Friday bit me and I bought a few 5.25" to 2.5" drive cages. Each can hold 6-8 SSDs, just looking to fill these up with many similar SSDs if I can get a decent rate on them. Looking for 4, 6, 8, or 16 drives of the same type.

I crawled ebay for S3500, S3610, S3700, and S3710's, and more. Didn't really see any great deals at the moment. I'm willing to wait but for a deal figured I'd see if anyone has some inventory they want to let go in bulk for cheap.

I'm willing to consider consumer drives as well (850 EVO/PRO, for example) as long as they have decent endurance.

I don't know where you are but there some interesting deals on samsung evo 860 in france (amazon)
i grabbed a couple 512Gb for 70€ each. It's sold for 300TBW, 5 years warranty if i'm correct that makes 0,32 DWPD.

Aye @frogtech I saw your post. Wonderful SSDs and a great price! But unfortunately well over my budget for this project, as well as the SAS 3 would be wasted coming off my SATA drive cages. Good luck with your post though; you'll make somebody very happy with it.

@caplam Have you had good experiences with the 860 EVOs? I could maaaybe push for $72/drive if it was worth it, however based on this review I'm hesitant. My intended use for these is a ZFS iSCSI target for my ESXi cluster. Random IOPs is very important to me, though not as much as capacity or I'd be going NVMe :)

I have no experience with 860 evo. For now i never used ssd in a array only as boot or storage single drive for esxi, proxmox or laptops.
This time i think i will throw these two in my synology box as ssd cache.
