I am looking for drives with following parameters:
- 7200 or 10000 rpm
- 2,5"
- SATA
- size > 100GB

We are going to use them as temp files drives with many rewrites. SSDs are therefore not an option.

I think its gonna be hard to find that many old laptop drives a once...
Just wonder what the reason is to not consider SAS in this? Heat, connectivity or power draw?

Anyhow good luck with this:)

We have only SATA ports in these servers and adding SAS controller is waste of resources. We usually use VelociRaptor drives for this purpose, but we are unable to source them for reasonable price from our suppliers

NOT SATA, but look at this guy's auctions. Several 10K 900GB and 600GB drives in 20x package size. Doesn't get cheaper. Every day new auctions. Why would you want to use SATA drives? Get cheap SAS2 SC213 or 216 backplanes and throw your SATA away  Super cheap Supermicro CSE-216 cases are on eBay as well together with SAS backplanes.

Cause I have a full rack of servers and I need system drives for that. 1 drive for each server.

Look for the seagate st9250610ns--solid 250GB drive that's available cheap--especially in quantity. I would contact a seller and negotiate as the space in the warehouse is usually worth more than the drives so you should be able to get them at well under $10/ea:
Something like these would be a good place to start:

AUCTION: 20x Seagate 500GB 7200rpm SATA 2.5" with caddy · ST9500620NS · HDD | eBay
(The SM caddies are more worth than the drives together )

I bought Lot 40 WD VelociRaptor HDD 160GB SATA II 10k WD 1600 HLFS @ 150€ +30€ postage.
Nice! I'd check the performance of those drives as they are a bit dated and may be slower than today's 7200rpm drives.
