I suspect my feelings on it will align with yours. I built mine this morning - I really feel the quality of set 3 is far below the two previous sets.
However I will say the APC model has 3 additional holes which will suit the black power cables. I've highlighted in red from your photo:

Thinking about it, at this point I would really like to get some connector plates to join the racks - there are already holes in the top panels and pins in the bottom panels that could be used for this.
Well, it's not that I have a problem with the quality of the gachas per-se, it's that they don't pay attention to the details and drives a guy like me up the wall. For example, here's a recent 600 Yen blind box that I picked up (It's Re-ment's Petit Sample Italian Trattoria...this being the Bagna Cauda). For a 600 Yen display it does a great job showing off the typical Japanese trait of attention to detail - the molding isn't great, but it's the addition of a candle under the ramekin or the molded olive oil on the caprese that really made it extra special...
Let's contrast that to, say, the Netapp AFF A70 on PNE3 - here's a diagram of its dual controllers on the chassis straight from the source, and how to wire it up....

And here's the back of the A70.
Note that only the bottom 2 power receptacles in the middle have the provisions for the plug, and there's only one network port in the entire chassis, so you can't even do an internal cluster setup, nor can you do something like wire it in clustered mode to a PowerEdge R760 (which would be useful for illustrative or teaching purposes). For an IT guy, it's sloppy (I'll probably need to use some yellow putty and some rubber band (or maybe using a bunch of small breadboard jumper cables and a mini drill) to simulate an 40GbE HA cable pair between the A and B side just so it won't trigger my OCD...), although the fact that the left side ports are so close to the edge makes me think it’s a misprint.
There is an anti-murphy measure preventing the chassis from being installed upside down, and it's possible to display the filer without the face plate (although it does make it much easier to drop the server off the rails as there are no locking mechanism in the back....)
The faceplate does require some careful sticker application.
As for the APC SmartUPS, well, it's...okay. One of the things that I like is the removable faceplate...although...

It really should have a removable battery just to complete the illusion.
Oh well, this might sell, although I think PNE2 is more of a high water mark in the series. This one? I would say it's "less good".
