Can Windows Server 2016 be updated to Windows Server 2019 when it is released?

You can upgrade your installtion from 2016 to 2019 and keep your files.

Yes and upgrades are not even as horrible as in past, used to say don’t do it just reinstall but these days upgrades do work fine if reinstall is not an easy option.

I've done quite a few in place upgrades and the only hiccup I've had is the OS resetting my SNMP settings, other than that everything has gone smoothly on all of them, including a couple of domain controllers.
