Hi,
I wonder if anyone knows if the Xeon E5-2683 V3 OEM [2 Stepping] will work with the Asus X99 Deluxe (not U3.1) Motherboard?
Please note that both are LGA-2011-V3, so I do not mean compatibility in that regards.
The Chip is stated as OEM not ES/QS, and the Motherboard is the non U3.1 version of the Asus X99 Deluxe.
I bought the CPU and Mobo from Ebay from two different sellers; below is CPU-Z (in Chinese) of the Chip from the seller - as well as the buying link. I have also listed the link for the Asus Mobo.
I have checked on the Asus website for CPU compatibility but it is not listed; however I read from various sources that many CPUs not listed on motherboard websites for compatibility will actually work.
I asked the Seller which motherboard they believed would work but they took days to come back to me (saying the ASUS X99-A), by which time I had already bought the ASUS X99 Deluxe!
I understand that even if this CPU will work on this mobo then it will need the correct BIOS revision.
I just read a few posts on this website about ES/QS Xeon V3/V4 CPU's and the problems people were saying they had on Asus X99 motherboards - and therefore I just wanted to check that this was not a problem also for OEM CPUs such as the one above?
Thank you for any help you can offer on this compatibility.
Chris
