why is 2687W v2 limited to 256GB ram and the rest of 2011 v2 support 768GB ram?

My guess is that this cpu is workstation oriented (max clock 4ghz, "low" core count of 8, tdp of 150w vs 130w tdp of 2667v2)

aside from the higher TDP, it seems the same as 2667 v2. so i still not quite getting the 256GB per cpu limitation. I mean, not that it matter to most people since most people don't have 256GB/cpu but i just want to know if there are like some sort of physical limitation or if intel just for some weird reason decides to just arbitrarily put a limit on it.
