Time for more space on my VMware datatstore.

Host is a Synology 1812+ (Sata2)
Runs 7 VMs - 2x AD, PlexMS, vCenter, Owncloud, 2x RHEL guests

Looking for something with
  1. Relatively high endurance
  2. Greater than 800GB
  3. Low Latency
Would like to spend less than $700

You can get 2x S3500 for $300-350 each if you keep an eye out on ebay.

If you're talking new or used --- let us know.

work out the endurance level you would be happy with too 1/5/10 drive writes per day? high endurance but not super fast is cheaper than high endurance and fast.

Thats a good point. You know i do not have a clear perspective on how much writes are actually occurring. Wonder if there is way to log this via vCenter or Synology.

vcentre may already log disk usage speeds in the performance tab. find an average ish speed and work out how much that is a day or if the switch is capable of it, cacti or some other software to log the port iscsi is using.
