It's been months since the release. I'm going to keep an eye on threadripper for a little server I've got.

What's better now, CentOS or Ubuntu? I know, RHEL SUSE Arch Debian vanilla. But of those two, are the kernel problems fixed?

Any recent distro should work; just make sure you're running kernel 4.10 or later, since earlier kernels lack important stability and feature patches for Ryzen.

Yea HWE is new as of 16.04.02 I believe. You have to run the installer to get it, IIRC.

I've switched most things to Ubuntu LTS HWE from CentOS.
