Debating without a use case... The perfect way to waste time on a sunday night. Time to go and check all the fleabay follows I have in hopes of something that I can almost afford.
Where do you see 2x 2658 v3 oem/retail for $300-350? Not talking about ES... plez post a link so we can get one for that cheapWhy do you guys think that 2683 is most cost-effecive?
That's 14 cores @2Ghz, right?
2658 is 12 cores, and sells for twice as less.
So for same money ($300) you can get 14 cores in single chip, or 24 cores in dual-cpu system.
Oooops. Missed that part.Where do you see 2x 2658 v3 oem/retail for $300-350? Not talking about ES... plez post a link so we can get one for that cheap
Why you're excluding Dual-CPU systems? May be I miss something about it? Or i'm mixing ES and non-ES again? It's the only somewhat affordable 18 core cpu right now. everything else is still over $1k.
not excluding dual core. see my original post. Just talking about the price of each cpu. 2x 2686 would be 36 cores 72 threads. seems like that's the best combination of price/cores/clocks even if it's not the cheapest v3 cpuWhy you're excluding Dual-CPU systems? Probably not. I'm looking at ES/QS mostly, so won't compare ES and non-ES prices. Even looking at specs, how could 18 core @2Ghz cost less then 14 or 12 cores at same clock?not excluding dual core. see my original post.
