i would like to know your opinions about which switch is better, why, what is the difference between them and what are the uses of each

beside the cost differances , i will use it in my small new company, w/ about 4 ESXi servers and about 50/100 users

Just a warning, the Nexus 2K series have no onboard management and require a Nexus 5K, 7K, or 9K series to operate.

We use a pair of the Nexus 3048TPs in our test lab. Haven't had any issues with them. Even with no license, they work fine for inter-vlan routing. The downside is that they're loud.

As mentioned nexus 2k are fabric extenders they need a nexus 5k or 7k for example to operate as a master so to speak.
Can consider nexus 9k models :) but cost $$

Anyway only wanted to point out that some 10G access switches don't drop to 100M, only to 1G speeds.

Cisco 3850 models can stack and are not too expensive while offering 10G access in some models.

OK i have looked for the 3850 and it is expensive for me right now , here is what I have & looking for ,
I have 4 x HP DL360 G7 servers w/ (1 x 10G NIC dual port) each , each port to one switch for redundancy ,
looking for
2 x 24 port 10G switch for Servers
2 x 48 port 1G switch for users

what do you recommend?

the cost must not exceed the 1000$ barrier

Guessing you've seen this deal? Refurbished Quanta LB6M 10GB 24-Port SFP+ Switch Dual Power QY139A Free shipping and you might be able to get the price down a touch on BO if you're getting two. Noisy, mind.
yes, I've seen it , and more on eBay for it & for LB4M, but is it a reliable switch?? , anyone who is using it , would you mind sharing your thoughts about it , pros & cons , the thing is I'm from & in Egypt and importing it from the US, so when I buy it, it is a one shot, I can't return it back, so I'm doing a lot of research before deciding

I can say that I'm on almost the same quest than you GodfatherX64

But since I have Cisco Nexus switches running on my company I'm looking now for cheap 10gb switch for my home lab.
I found, like many of the users on the forum, the netgear M5300 series GSM7328S v2 and GSM7352S v2, that in used normally go cheaper.

But in my case for home lab I'm wondering if I could go the route of new switch like D-Link DGS-1510-20/28 or Mikrotik CRS226-24G ?
These look a bit down on specs compared to the netgear, but can they handle with good transfer speeds from/to my two servers in 10GB links?

Thanks

Depending on how many 10G ports you need there is a Cisco classic switch that may meet the needs C3560CX-8XPD-S

It's close to a grand but may be good if you really want a Cisco OS (granted not NX OS)

For my case it would, but for that price it won't happen :)

PS: I only need 2 sfp+ or 4 would be great

its expensive for me right now, the only deal I can find, afford and suitable for my needs is 2 x LB6M + 2 x LB4M, I hope they can handle the work load with low latency, if any one has an opinion about other good switches, you are welcome to share it

Yeah the price hurts... honestly looks like a great switch option but just too expensive unless you really need it.
