I have a PC built around a ASUS WS790-ACE MB, an Intel w5-2455 CPU, 64GB Ram (6000MHz), various NVME drives (via onboard controller) and a RTX4070-Ti.
It generally runs fine but now and then (once a week or after 2 days etc), it will bog down and run at a speed where it takes 5-10 seconds to accept a click and open a window. During this time the mouse movement is normal. Everything is extremely slow.
Checked temps (case has 8 fans, 2x bottom, 3x side, 3x top with rad for AIO CPU cooler)... CPU / GPU Ram all under 45 DegC. Checked GPU load via task manager which showed 16%, ram usage at 36% and pretty much noting on the NVME / GPU. Network is running at 1GB/s but it is a 10G onboard (Marvell) NIC and my network is 10G.
The only thing running quite hot is the PCH at 70+ DegC.
The Windows event viewer logs shows nothing around the slowdown time (warning / critical).
The issue has not occurred whilst running games.
One resolution (temp fix) is to logout (which is painful due to the very slow responsiveness of any inputs) and login again. Everything is back to normal until the next slowdown. As soon as I logout the machine is instantly back to normal for logging in.
The logout and in again seems to indicate a process causing a issue. It has been a while so I freshly installed Windows 11 Pro again last night and today the problem resurfaced again.
If I leave the machine for a period of time it seems to come back to normal state again but sometimes goes back to slowdown mode later.
At a bit of a loss.
Any suggestions ?.
