The fact that WD has gone silent since your piece in April most consistent with a corporate behavior you didn’t note in this article: they know they’ve got a big problem and their lawyers have advised not to say anything.

Has anyone seen any testing of these in msft storage spaces? I don't personally deploy drives that small but i'd be curious to see how they behave there as well.

it would be worse than ZFS tests already in the articles... any really slow drive in your pool causes problems. I had in the past create a detect latency rule to detect bad drives... then we had to replace them...
