I'm trying to build a video editing machine. Attached is what i have so far for a build.
Umm, are you sure that memory is compatible?
not compatible, don't fit, you need RDIMM.
look for:
Kingston FURY Renegade Pro RDIMM
Kingston Server Premier RDIMM
Samsung RDIMM M321xxxxx
Micron RDIMM MTC10xxx MTC20xxx
SK hynix RDIMM
ADATA XPG AICORE RDIMM
Corsair WS RDIMM
G.Skill Zeta R5 RDIMM
Transcend Embedded Solutions RDIMM

Are you using your own funds or corporate/government funds?

Isn't video editing heavy on CPU? I bet my $120 56 core QYFU ES chip will beat that w5, even when w5 is overclocked. I also got my 32GB DDR5 sticks less than $100 from eBay. Those DDR5 4800 dimms can be easily overclocked to 5600.

I wish I had bought more though :) Prices are still crazy high on DDR5.
Davinci Resolve works on GPU, i have the Paid Studio version.

Don't buy a new CPU. There is no performance difference between the 2400 / 3400 and the 2500 / 3500. Buy a used 3400 from eBay for 60% off. You need the maximum number of CPU cores for video encoding. With the 3000 you should buy a board with 8 memory channels and 112 PCIe lanes like the Asus one. The Gigabyte board is overpriced.

Buy an 8x 16GB 6000 MT/s R-DIMM memory kit and use the XMP profile.

Which version of Classic ? I noticed the issue when I upgraded to the later versions so I want to see if it is due to my ES chip or lightroom problem. Btw, which CPU do you have?
I always upgrade to the latest version immediately.

If you don't need the PCIe lanes or memory bandwidth you are better off with a high clock speed desktop CPU if only getting 16 cores.
I'll have 2 nvme drives & a video card. The rest of the board will probably be un-populated. Got any examples of cpu's that are not 2000$ and ES with high clock ? ( video editing workstation build Davinci Resolve ) with a 16gig RTX5070.

You should just buy a Core Ultra 9 285K. It will be much faster and cheaper for most things if you do just GPU encoding.
