Am i wrong to assume the cheapest W-2400 series (Asus ACE) is not looking very interesting compared to a W680 series with a Raptor Lake price-wise?

Depends on your goals I think. W-2400 series is for people who need a lot of Pci-Ex lanes and RAS features of RDIMMs

Well, all the trouble with working the DDR5 UDIMM ECC situation leaves a bad taste. And I can't find a W680 board with the features I want and I can't do anything about it when PCIe slots are missing.

Added the Gigabyte boards to OP. The MW83-RP0 seems to be the second board that supports 8 channel RAM with the W-3400 family

Another notable feature on the Gigabyte boards seem to be the thermal sensors under the M.2 slots. From the pictures they seem to rest on a piece of foam and press up against the M.2 SSD retaining physical contact.

The STH SKU list says the W5-3425 (12/24c, 3.2-4.6GHz, 112 pcie lanes) is $1189
Supermicro (Micron) 32GB 288-Pin DDR5 4800 (PC5-38400) Server Memory (MEM-DR532L-CL01-EU48) $130 x 8 = $1040

so for now looking at 1200+1189+1040= $3429 for a W-3400 platform with 256GB of 8 channel ECC DDR5 4800MHz memory .

Please post better prices and findings in thread, and i'll try to keep the OP updated. Also suggestions to improve the OP welcome.

I don't think you can used UDIMMs on RDIMM platforms anymore with DDR5. I haven't seen registered DDR5 for sale yet.

Yeah i'm no expert on this, other than i know there's confusion about all this in another thread.. if i have time i'll try to check the RAM HCL's of these boards, and see what's for sale. Any help welcome.

DDR5 (ECC) UDIMM is powered with 5V,
DDR5 (ECC) RDIMM is powered with 12V.

I didn't realize those were udimm's. As anyone finds any RDIMM for sale for W2400/W3400 series, i will add to OP.
