The 5 cards have not been running for over 6 hours without issues thanks to your suggestions. They are running with 935 mv on the P7 state and S3 state. HBM is running at 1100MHz and the rig in total are producing about 19.8KH/s (AEON). Consumption is about 970 watts. I will try to tweak the settings a little but thank you a lot for the tip!
Glad to help : )

Well right now you'd be lucky to get a 56 for that kind of money. :)

Well the RX 570's are almost back to the old price.

Hard to beat the price performance , 1/3 the price of a RX Vega and 1/3 the performance.......except for power usage.

But they are easy to mod the bios in windows and run in Linux.

Also with the rising prices of Vega Gpu's the ol open computer servers look interesting again.

Agreed. I just went on an R9 390 buying spree because of the $ / hash. Nothing touches the $399 56's or the $499 64's, but $160 bucks for 800H/s is pretty nice.

....and then they just got stupid too.

FYI - newegg and ebay newegg have the Vega 64 but its limit of 1 at $659. I grabbed one because i was going to buy the free games that came with it anyway - the new wolfenstein and prey.

Building a new rig for these vega's but they are sure hard to find at an acceptable price. This thread is fantastic btw! Thank you Marsh and everyone else

At 659 that’s a tough nut to handle. R9s 7950s, and Opteron servers are all better hash/$. Way more power though.

Yes - way too much but I was going to buy wolfenstein anyway and I wanted to play with one. However, I need to fill this new rig and not sure what to get. Bestbuy also had some and Amazon but they were all $659 or more so they are getting back in stock but too expensive. My worry with Nvidia is that with the next gen coming out 1st or 2nd quarter 1060s or 1070ti's aren't going to be worth near what I pay for them now. I saw the 570's are jacked back up as someone noted here. Any thoughts on this - wait for them to come down or get deals on whatever is out there.

I think the 570s are the best bang for buck, and Vegas are still amazing even at today's prices.

As far as whether to buy right now or wait, that's anyone's guess.

RX 570 was $199 AR at Newegg few days ago.

I paid $466 for one vega 64 , another Vega 64 at $540. I weight my option between waiting for more vega 64 or pull the trigger on RX 570.

If the RX570 is back at $200, I may not be able resist buying some RX 570.

So right now I have my Vega 64 running at 1450H/s. Settings are: GPU: 1200@850mv, mem 900@880mv. Temps are stable at GPU 57C, mem 64C with the fan at 3300rpm (room is 70F).

It's not too loud for my bedroom, and I'm comfortable that it won't overheat.

1 of my 2 2667s is CPU mining (Windows Home :(), and power draw is ~350w with total hash ~2100H/s.

I bought a HP Z420 on Craigslist (nice find for $100) to house the other Vega I have, and will probably put similar settings on it. It needs a few bits before I can power it on so I can check installed processor and get things up and running.

Joel , which setting did you end up using for the e5-2667 v2? Thanks

It would appear that all Vega inventory is gone again and we're back to the post-launch situation. Newegg used to have them in stock at inflated prices, but now they're all gone. No stock at Amazon either. ~$700 on eBay even for used ones. LC versions and aftermarket cooler versions are $850+.

@Joel
A single Vega 64 produces 2KH/s.
I know; I got it up to 1800 but wasn't happy with temps and had the fan pegged. I know these cards can supposedly handle 90C temps, but I prefer not to get it that hot. Power usage also jumped +100w to go from 1450H/s to 1800.

I'd rather set the cruise control at 78mph than go 140 and blow the proverbial engine.

I might see about strapping an additional fan to the intake, and if that helps the cooling situation then I can ramp up. The other alternative is a liquid cooling setup but that would run ~$400. It would allow me to add a third Vega though. :)

In windows I have xmr-stak-cpu config'd as follows:

Code:
"cpu_threads_conf" :
[
   { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 0 },
   { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 1 },
   { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 2 },
   { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 3 },
   { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 4 },
   { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 5 },
   { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 6 },
   { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 7 },
   { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 8 },
   { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 9 },
   { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 10 },
   { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 12 },
],
Keep in mind Windows core numbering is different from Linux: even numbered cores are physical, odd are HT. 12 threads should result in 24 of 25mb allocated to CPU cache. One physical core is free for random Windows tasks and assisting the GPU.

Once I get the HP box up and running I'll switch this one to Win 10 Pro to get the second CPU back online. This will also allow me to run Docker for Windows(needs Hyper-V), so then I'll switch back to Aeon. I had to send my Dell lappy in for a screen repair so the miner is my only working machine at the moment.

After I applied the soft power play reg file, vega 64 power usage drop to 160w, the card does not run hot anymore.

Watch amazon, they had the Sapphire 56 this morning for $499 but I missed it by seconds, put some in my cart and went to buy and they were gone. Then within the hour they had the Sapphire 64 for $599, limit of 2 that were gone i. Funny none of my amazon alert emails triggered from amazon itself or from nowinstock.net. I just happened to be eating breakfast checking out amazon when I saw them. I wonder if they disable alerts for items where they don't get a lot of stock.
