As you'll have seen from a recent post of mine I had a drive in my RAID die. I replaced it with one I had on the shelf as "cold standby", but now I need to replace the spare.

Everyone seems to love the HGST 7K6000 drives but they are SAS-3 rather than SAS-2 - will they work OK?

Thanks, Dave

There will not be any problems with 7K6000 being SAS-3. The only potential problem I can think of is how that old Adaptec is going to handle an AF (advanced format) drive. I'd say - get the drive and throw out the controller if it doesn't play nice. Btw ASR-72405 is dirt cheap - I've seen them for like $20 shipped.
