Is there any difference in terms of reliability of running a used 1015 card vs new one? I can find a few new ones and they are double the price, is it worth it or stick with used?

I have 3 I purchased used a few years ago and they are all still functioning perfectly. I recently purchased a couple of Dell Perc H310's because they were $30 cheaper than a M1015. After flashing to IT mode, they're identical and the connectors are at the end of the card where they belong.

Here's one for $49 with free shipping.

If you need warranty and someone to point a finger at if it goes faulty, then yes, new would be the way to go, if on the other hand this is for personal use, then buy good used cards, they will last you the lifetime of your server, if not forever :)

This. Only consider new if for work or biz where it will be expensed. And in that case get a legit LSI HBA, no cross flashing shenanigans! (voids wty)
