Hey guys,

What would you advise for the installation of Esxi?

I can source some 275gb mx300 pretty cheap atm. Nothing fancy as it's for a home lab.

Option 1) 2xssd in raid 1+ database drive

Option 2) usb stick on internal header + datastore drive

I was thinking if I go usb, once I have my base lab up I can get a second and clone it and pop it into a drawer somewhere you know just in case.

i've been running mine on sandisk 16gb usb drives i got on sale a few years back.
haven't had a failure in nearly 3yrs of use.
i got a clone of each usb for my hosts too, just in case.
