So this is a bit of a DIY project that I'm no longer using. Started with an HP Z420 Workstation computer, took it out of the (quite limited) OEM chassis, and mounted it into an Antec P100 case. Makes a great ZFS box with an 8 drive RAIDZ2 array. I don't know if the motherboard supports V2 CPUs.

Specs:
Xeon E5-1620v1 CPU
Z420 motherboard and HP proprietary power switch with temperature sensor velcro'ed to the case lol
32GB DDR3 1866 ECC RDIMM (4x8gb)
EVGA 550w G3 80+ Gold PSU
Antec P100 case in good condition
Comes with an unknown AMD workstation GPU (nothing special IIRC, but it has 2 DisplayPorts and a DVI output, so it should be safe for 1080P or so)
Also comes with a 500GB Samsung 860 Evo (Repurposed for another build)

$200 for all, local pickup in Franklin, TN (Nashville area)

I also have 8x 3tb drives I can add for an additional $150. 6 WD Red (pretty sure these were made prior to the SMR liar period) and 2 Toshiba 7200rpm drives. ~60K POH for all.

And for anyone interested, you can get a z420 case for as little as $75 shipped on ebay, and that the z420 supports 256GB of ram with a v1 cpu and 32GB LRDIMMs, which is what I have in my z420. :)

Assuming there was a PSU adapter involved, as I believe the HP Z'Series use a proprietary "ATX" connection that isn't quite 24-pin??

Zack's question was the same as yours. Pricing on the drives was to incentivize a group buy. I'll sell the drives separately for $250 shipped for all.

Fwiw, you just need to check the boot block date in the BIOS to see if it will support v2 procs. 2011 is v1 only, 2013 date will take v2s.

And the v2 cpus no longer support LRDIMMs as someone found out when trying to installed the same 256GB I have in mine...

TTT. Finally got around to getting smartctl output on the HDDs. Looks like they're in better shape than I thought. I spot checked and they're at ~24K POH.

TTT, with price drop. $300 for the whole system including the drives, local pickup (now in Murfreesboro). This has been sitting in storage so the above hard drive info should still be considered fairly accurate.
