This might be a pretty good deal since these aren't normally available.

Referencing the review: https://www.servethehome.com/lanner...ab-deal-of-the-year-intel-transcend-qualcomm/
That covers the 8-core Atom C3758 CPU.

Unit available on the bay has a 16-core Atom C3958, 32G of memory, and a 512G SSD. 15 units available at the time of posting.

New Lanner L-1515F-16C-32E-512M-VZ1 NCA 1515 L-1515F whitebox SD-WAN uCPE | eBay

I've got an offer out, so hopefully the STH Effect(tm) won't slam me. ;)

this is cool, but what use case do you have in mind for it? Without 10gb sfp+ I can't use this is a router, unfortunately

I see a couple of potential uses for this box.... the CPU core count does lend itself to better virtualization support and the box can handle 64GB DRAM. And not everyone has a >1Gbps internet connection, so it's a great alternative to an Edge 640/680 and at a lower price. Definitely overkill for a dedicated pfsense box, but toss your favorite hypervisor on there and then run pf as a VM, maybe a pihole VM, etc., etc...

One of my big complaints right now... sometime back I picked up a SM SYS-5019D with the X11SDV-4C-TP8F board in it.... and I"m cussing the 4 core limitation on the box presently. Would love to upgrade to 8/12/16 core board, but damn, they cost more than the equivalent weight in pure gold, EVEN given how old they are now.

In the time it took me to hit buy it now and try to pay… somebody beat me to the last one! STH effect, I guess.

Yep. STH Effect. Looks like one person got one, and then someone else took the other 14.

The processors only went End-of-service 13 months ago. Give them some time to become truly unsupported by various software, and you'll see the prices drop.

Doubtful that will be anytime soon. The previous generation (X10SDV line) has tremendously held its value and is almost 10 years old now. I've had no trouble selling 4-core systems (5018D-FN8T) on eBay for $600+ within the past month.

My impression is that the embedded boards/systems tend to maintain value abnormaly well (compared to standard mobo+equivalent cpu) in general.

My last 1U D1541 servers with 64gb ram sold in a few days, with a higher asking price than i had 1U 40core/256gb ram/12 nvme units listed for.
