What's that extra connector on the PCI-e riser for? The little white one that's above the PCI-e slot.
I'm not sure, usually in the higher Wyse 5070 model the PCIe slot is filled with a graphics card. Perhaps in that case AUXCN1 is used.

is that a PCIe X1 or x4 slot? That looks much shorter than the riser slot on their HP counterparts. Also, does your “big” come originally with the E9173 PCIe card?

This is PCIe x4. On high-resolution pictures, 21 pins after the key notch are more visible. I saw on ebay configurations with E9173 card, mine doesn't have one.
On the side note, when idling, it consumes 7.0 watts of power. Connecting an external display adds 5 watts.
Installation of VMWare versions 6.7 and 7.0 fails with PSOD. More luck with version 6.5, but because I350-T4 driver's capabilities are limited (no SR-IOV) I gave up this platform.
Proxmox on the other hand works very well on it, it is light and responsive.

This pcie x4 slot on the riser card looks like an open-ended one, is it?
So maybe the low power consumption card like SFN5122F will work.

By the way, the ebay price of 5070 extended + tax is near $200 now.

The AMD Embedded Radeon card is x16 physically, x8 electrically, and the slot is x4, so definitely it should probably fit. The graphics card is supposed to limit power to 35W, so that's what you have to play with, power wise. But you should probably try and get the 135W power brick with that. I think the 135W might be somewhat standard with the extended. I can't speak to that particular card though. Cooling might be another issue.

Eh, that card is PCIe 2.0x8 in normal circumstances, so you are effectively halving available bandwidth on that card when it’s installed on an x4 slot.

Yeah, it is enough for dual 10gbps in and out.

No - PCIe allocates dedicated bandwidth based on directional lanes.
For PCIe 2.0 it’s 500MBytes/sec per lane, per direction. For full duplex single port 10GbE you need 2 PCIe lanes up, 2 PCIe lanes down (x4). If you need dual port 10GbE it’s either PCIe 2.0x8 or PCIe 3.0x4 (985Mbyte/sec x4). In other words, install a SFN5122F into the 5070 big and it’ll work more like a 5GBps dualport.

It is open-ended, x8 card fits just fine.
PCIe 2.0 x4 effective data rate is 2000MB/s=16Gb/s, for my not demanding home use is more than enough.
Is the 5070 “big” a PCIe 2.0 or 3.0 machine? If it’s PCIe 3.0x4 it should be around 39.4Gbps, which is enough for hanging a dualport 10Gbps card (provided that you have a fan on it)

According to Intel's ARK - the J5005 only supports PCIe 2.0 (6 lanes total):

Well, with only 6 PCIe lanes available, that does certainly partially explain why the regular version of the thin client only consume 10w running flat out (J4105/32GB RAM/256GB SATA M2, stress -c 20 -m 30 -vm-bytes 1G, measured in 5 second intervals off a Ekecity Voltson smart outlet). The machine is rather...minimalist.

Oh yeah, I am not complaining - hell, this little beast already turned out better than the EliteDesk 705G3 that @Patrick hauled home...Well, kinda.

Do you have a source for these? Googling them brings me right back to the thread or takes me to machine generated spam pages. I've been looking for the second rj45 for six months or so.

The part #'s can be determined by going to Dell site and configuring a 5070 with the parts, then look at the summary page (you may have to delete the VGA port, and wireless).

I've seen a 5070 for sale on ebay with the SFP for $$$.

I don't have a source for the parts though, don't know if they're available for order. I've seen the pages you're talking about.

I've ordered a RJ45 off of ebay from China and plan to try and 3d print a part for the option slot.

My guess is that the SFP is the Transition Networks M2-SFP, which is muy dineros (225 USD quoted). As for RJ45...maybe something generic M2 A+E compatible like the Ableconn or the Commell M2 cards? I simply do not see that many Dell quoted parts in the open market. Maybe ask the guys who sold the 9 dollar HP fiber cards on eBay if they can source a few and quote pricing on them? Those cats deal with Dells as well.
