This is the deal !

PC = z820

I ordered a 9361-8i 2gb ( 8 ports : made up of 1 x SFF-8643 to 4 x SFF-8680 ports ) x 2

The SFF-8680 can be brought as 2 cables :
1) dual port : SFF-8643 to SFF-8680 x2 ( the dual ports are using the 4 total ports/ 2 x SAS hdds only) :
HD Mini-SAS Cables (12Gb/s)

2) single port: SFF-8643 to SFF-8680 x4 ( 4 x SAS hdds using single port only ) :
HD Mini-SAS Cables (12Gb/s)

So i want to use dual port hard drives and i need 8 in raid 0 total.
So i need 4 x SFF-8643 to SFF-8680 x2 Cables

The problem is i ordered a 9361-8i which only does 8 ports ! i need another 8 ports !

So i need to order another 9361-8i or sell the one thats coming and order a 9361-16i.

I would prefer to order another 9361-8i and here is where i need the urgent help.
i just need anyone to clarify two things for me :

1) if i had two 9361-8i cards in two different pcie 3.0 slots with 8 x dual port sas hdds conected to dual ports cables > Can i set up 1 raid 0 array with both lsi cards and all 8 hdds ???????

2) i found this thread :
Two LSI 9361-8i cards into an HP Z820 giving issues

It states that two 9361-8i cards in one z820 will not work , however i found another thread which i cant find again to link for you that stated that it will work with SAS but not SATA hdds .

Can someone point me in the direction of how i would find this out before i order another 9361-8i ?????

I appreciate any help with this Thanks

ok so here's what i am going to do first

i am going to order :
4 x Dual port 12gb/s 4tb hdds
2 x SFF-8643 to SFF-8680 x2 cable
1 x SFF-8643 to SFF-8680 x4 cable

When they arrive i will test both cables out and compare read and write speeds and the dual port functionality on Win 10.
The reason for this is if the x4 cable has the same read and write as the dual port cables then its pointless buying a second 9361-8i, i will just need to order a second SFF-8643 to SFF-8680 x4 cable and another 4 hdds.

This is the plan but i will wait as i live in Perth and normally everyone is sleeping around the world while i am awake and i am hoping to here any supporting information before i do this tomorrow .

Ok so the st4000nm0074 dual port hdd has arrived and so has the dual port cable from lsi i361-8i to the Seagate hdd .

I have installed windows server 2016 and enabled MPIO.

There are heaps of videos and help setting up mpio to a ip array but NO videos or help on dual pathing a internal hdd ?

Can someone please help me with some steps on connecting the dual ports to my windows server 2016 so I can do some testing on performance and try to fully understand if there is any actual performance increase ! I will post results

I also have a 9361-16i on the way so I will perform the same tests and compare lsi cards tooo.

I have setup a raid 0 through lsi storage manager and then formatted and added a drive letter through windows disk manager.

What to do next ? I am lost at the MPIO + iSCSI properties window ?

I have no clue regarding the setup, sorry but you might get more help with a better title and the to correct sub forum (windows) since the focus moved away from the hba...
