hope you have RDIMM or LRDIMM, if many GB it can take a looooooooooooooooooong time to POST (cold boot)
yes I've got 8*32GB RDIMMs. How long should I expect?
what is the usual way to install an os on such a device? The BMC has this Remote Management thing. I wasn't planning on a graphics card. Where would I notice that it POSTs ?

plug VGA monitor to the analog VGA port.
you prepare windows or linux usb thumb the usual way, boot from it and install to connected SSD/HDD
you can also login to BMC and use HTML5 KVM remote view. but google for a how to......
first YOU have bought an old motherboard.
and there is no need to see anything if a server board is working.
the VGA is part of the ASPEED BMC chip and a bonus becaue you don't need a PCIe GPU.
yes I realise that. Anyway I think it is not POSting because the CPU in the BMC system inventory is still the 7282 and the KVM is showing now signal. 28 Minutes must be long enough for my RAM I guess.

Well thanks for all your help. It will not achieve POST. The CPU Information is not updating. I will ask to swap the MB
For others:
The RBU file is not good for updating the BMC, even though in theory this should work. Get the rom.ima_enc file and update the BMC with that.
Use the appropriate RBU and select "BIOS" to upgrade to Rev 3, with a new BMC.
Don't do whatever I did wrong but didn't figure out yet.

So I got a replacement board from tugm. This time the BMC is not getting an IP address on my network. Could it be requesting a static IP outside of the allocatable range? Any way to find out what it is requesting if anything? The BMC LED is flashing so 'ready'... Would a CMOS reset also reset this back to default DHCP state?

Continuing on this BMC + BIOS updating subject.
I have a Rev 0 that I updated to Rev 3.
The CPU is a 7302.
BMC is 12.61.35
BIOS is R40
I noticed that there is a new BMC version 12.61.39 that fixes many vulnerabilities (The size of this new one is more than double the old one).
There is also BIOS R43 that also fixes many vulnerabilities, improves support for GPUs, ...
Whenever I try to update any of them I get the "failed due to verification image fail".
I try to update through the BMC browser interface.
I tried re-downloading, different browsers, ...
Any ideas on how to solve this?
