I've made some updates. New 4 port ext sas 6 card, HGST 4U60 added. Sold SC846. New pictures... still need to do cable management. Have some Middle Atlantic 120v 20 plug pdu's on the way to help with cleanup

Thanks. Oh installed ATT gigabit fiber on 11/23. Averaging about 700-800mbit and 8-12TB per month. Bypassed att router that has to be used due to network authentication with a dmz mode it has.

looking good gene. I'm in a similar boat with gigabit fiber and looking to pick up an hgst 4u60 for storage. How loud is that thing?

I have inherited a windows7 plex/couchpotato/sabnzb/sickbeard VM that i am looking to replace with a debian setup. Did you just piecemeal your setup together or were you following a guide? I wasn't sure if it would be worth it do to all the individual setup verses just downloading a virtual appliance like openflixr

The 4u60 is pretty quiet after bootup. Much less noise than the Quanta LB4M or the apc transformer i have in the rack. It is definitely audible but not a sound that would be annoying at all

I actually installed openmediavault 3.0. Openmediavault 3.0 has all those programs you listed as plugins. Debian 8.5 is the base os. You can always use apt to get other things or install ubuntu 64 packages with dpkg.
Ive been averaging 20-25TB a month on ATT gigfiber. Their peering isnt the best so most single connections max out at 15MB.

@Gene you had mentioned a modified plex transcoder running on a different host in one of your posts. Could you give more information on how to get it to work? I currently have a plex host that can do one 1080p transcode and bogs down on 4k transcodes. It would be great if I could utilize one of my other servers to provide on demand compute.
