As per title.
Has anyone from UK or EU bought anything from bitdeals.tech?
I'm looking at their SAS drives in particular, probably 6 or 7 of them.
If you have bought anything how did the P&P and delivery time work out?
Did you get stung for import duty? Did the drives survive the journey?
I'm trying to work out if its worth ordering from there; the prices are nice but theres always a catch somewhere.
Thanks for any info.
Heya! Just in case anyone else doesn't chime in...
I'm not from the UK, but we have similar taxation upon import here in Canadaland (ie: it's to be expected, unless the goods are manufactured in the USA/Mexico - which I'm assuming drives/most electronic products are not...).
I'm located on the East of Canada and they're in California, so it was a similar distance to travel (~6hr flight), minus the whole ocean thing
I had an order come in from Bitdeals the other week (was all SAS drives).
The shipping was very fast -
when it was finally shipped. I chose DHL as a carrier, only because they're familar. USPS/Canada Post/etc would be a fair bit slower.
Like others experienced, the time to drop it at the carrier was quite slow. I think they're a little backlogged on shipments.
There were indeed taxes and duties on the import, and any carrier brokerage fees. So you can probably take your VAT/import duty rate and extrapolate from there.
EDIT: Should clarify in case it's not obvious - the export was prepared with the actual value of purchase. Not like something coming from overseas that seem to often be "mistakenly" labelled wrong for customs documentation...
So, expect to pay taxes on the purchase value...
The drives are good. It was very well packaged also. Lots of foam padding all around the box, and those thick cardboard dividers that retail HDD sellers package things in. Each drive was individually packaged in heat-sealed anti-static bags, as if they were fresh retail packaging. Was a nice touch for refurb/used drives.
Hope that helps a little.
